To provide the dental team with research and information needed to build a foundation for children and adolescents to have optimal oral and general health now and throughout life.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the chronic diseases and conditions affecting children today
- Discuss the impact of nutrition and physical activity on obesity and diabetes
- Understand the impact of active and involuntary smoking on general health
- List the effects of diabetes, obesity, smoking, and asthma on oral health
- Evaluate the measures available for caries and gingivitis reduction and recommend products/regimens appropriate to need
- Describe strategies for talking to patients and their families about chronic health conditions
